Our Citrix team closes the Citrix session after X minutes of inactivity. My long running scripts cannot finish. I wonder if there is some DXL command that will simulate key strokes or something to simulate "activity", keeping the session alive and thus let the scripts finish. -Louie llandale - Mon Feb 18 19:45:54 EST 2019 |
Re: Keep Alive I don't think you can do this via DXL as that is operating within the context of the remote CITRIX session. As far as I know, the CITRIX inactivity feature monitors data between the CITRIX\ICA Client on your PC and the remote CITRIX session and is looking for mouse clicks and keyboard entry directed at a published CITRIX application on the users PC. So in order to reset the inactivity timer you need to periodically inject a mouse click or keyboard entry from the client side whilst a CITRIX application is in focus so that the injection is sent as data to the remote session and doesn't just stay locally. So if you know someone who has good programming experience with a high level language such as C#, there maybe some library routines that can be programmed to periodically interact with the low level operating system services such as managing I/O data entry from the mouse and keyboard. Some of the languages support running snippets of assembler level code that can inject data directly into low level I/O interrupt services such as INT 16H (Keyboard I/O services) or INT 33H (Mouse I/O services) to which the CITRIX client will be monitoring and will send the data to the remote session, as long as the published CITRIX app has the current focus - much care is needed with such an approach, playing around with the low level interrupt services within a multitasking operating system can introduce instability.

Re: Keep Alive Hi Louie,
If your requirement is just to keep it awake, i would like to suggest you .vbs script which will keep the session active.
set wsc = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Do
save this as .vbs and when you are starting the DXL and then click on this script, this will work and keep it awake.
